Funerals have a bad rap for being depressing and sad, but I actually love them because they are a chance to hear all of the amazing things about someone and how others felt about them. After attending funerals of those I’ve known and also haven’t known too well, I always walks away with a feeling of wishing I knew them better along with reflecting on how I’ll be remembered. I want to strive to be the person today that I want to be remembered for forever.
It’s time to start reflecting on the type of person you want to be known as.

– The Best Part About Funerals
– Self-Reflection
Remembering My First Funeral
My father passed away when I was 7 and I remember his funeral, but I don’t remember the words spoken at it. I can remember the outfit I wore, the giggles my brother and I shared and many people coming to our house afterwards. What I wish I did remember was any stories that people may have shared about him because I’m now struggling to gather those stories on my own, when the beauty of a funeral is that they are shared at that time.
Why I Love Funerals
Funerals are the one place where everyone is sharing their positive, happy, funny stories about the person who has passed. Yes, everyone is sad and missing this person, but the stories of how one individual affected so many lives brings everyone together. You get the opportunity to learn about what this person loved doing, what kind of a friend he or she was, what their likes were and often times, how they made others laugh and feel. A funeral makes you wish you knew someone on a deeper level and had spent more time with them.
What I Want To Be Remembered For
I’m a wife, mom, stepmom, friend, business owner, woman and more. I want to be known for every individual part of me, as well as myself as a whole. I hope and pray that people will want to stand up and share their stories about what I did for them and how I affected their lives for the better. In order to do that, it takes self-reflection on where I am today and how I can ensure that happens.
