Let’s talk about podcast ratings and reviews….you see them on Apple Podcasts (iTunes) when you pull up a podcast, but do you know their importance? Podcasters truly depend on you hitting those 5 stars because it helps increase their rankings on charts which increases their chance of new listeners. Podcasts that have 150+ ratings are looked at as doing really well and increase the chances of other podcasters wanting to be interviewed by that podcaster.
As a podcaster, I can’t begin to tell you what reading a meaningful review means to me. To know that not only are people listening to the content that I’m putting out into the world, but that listeners are enjoying it, its the most amazing feeling ever! Rave reviews also make a podcaster want to crank out more content because they know people are finding it to be worthwhile.
Ratings and reviews are also factors when podcasters look at obtaining sponsors for their shows, therefore it’s important to be able to show the positive feedback in addition to the number of downloads a show receives. To top it off, hitting those 5 stars just once takes literally 2 seconds of your time, but means so freaking much to the podcaster and his/her future in podcasting.
When you leave a review, it doesn’t have to be long, but it should be meaningful. I launched my podcast just over a week ago and the reviews I’ve received have literally made me cry.
Here’s a sample of a few of the reviews I’ve gotten that simply melt my heart….
“Michelle has found her passion in life and it shows.”
“As always, Michelle speaks to my soul!”
“Michelle is so real and has a gift for drawing you into her world and helping you see yours in a new light.
If you’re listening to a podcast that you truly enjoy, please do that podcaster a solid by leaving them a rating and even a review. Podcasting is a very vulnerable thing to do….you’re putting yourself out for the entire world to hear. You cross your fingers, close your eyes and hope and pray that maybe just one person enjoys it. Let your favorite podcaster know that you’re listening and you want them to keep going! If you’re listening to the My Simplified Life podcast, I’d be beyond grateful if you left me a rating (and review!). Tag me on Instagram (@michelleglogovac) and I’ll also be sharing some coffee with some lucky listeners!
