I’m not against AI — I use it to refine my writing and improve clarity. But I am against how it’s being used to replace human voices, creativity, and connection.

And that’s exactly why I believe real podcasts — the kind with actual humans behind the mic — are more important than ever. They’re one of the few remaining formats where we can speak freely, tell honest stories, and connect without algorithms reshaping our message.

I make a big deal out of birthdays. I always have,

I make a big deal out of birthdays. I always have, ever since my stepkids were young. They not only get to choose the cake flavor, but the design as well, and I do my best to accommodate whatever they dream up. Since my “hobby” piqued your interest, here’s the backstory and more cakes!

During the pandemic, I discovered fondant and unexpectedly found a new “hobby” when it came to making their cakes. What launched this discovery? My first major Pinterest fail (swipe through — you’ll see it!).

I wouldn’t call myself artistic, but I’m more than willing to take my time and try to create something my kids will find memorable and meaningful. No one gets to peek until it’s done…I t’s part of the tradition now.

My hope is that each cake reminds them just how loved, celebrated, and seen they are as individuals.

I don’t believe in balance. I believe in being fully present in the moment you’re in. Sometimes that’s your work. Sometimes that’s your family. Sometimes that’s your book, a bath, a protest, or a pile of laundry.

You don’t have to choose one identity. You don’t have to shrink yourself into a box that says “this is what a good mom looks like.”

You can be both wild and grounded. Fierce and soft. Loud and nurturing.

Motherhood isn’t the end of your story…it’s just one chapter. ✨

The thought is that the look of the recording area will translate to the vibe of the conversation…

As someone who used to record from my closet, trust me when I say it’s not the vibe of your location that makes for a great conversation…it’s the actual people.

@rebzsays was interviewed in the article and I instantly DM’d Rebecca with my thoughts! We agreed on the cliche of bookshelves filled with a rainbow of books that most likely haven’t been read along with the cozy aesthetic that more women podcasters are going for…while men continue to record from what looks like actual studios or start up offices…perfectly analogy from Rebecca!

Behind me? Every book’s been read. Many are signed. Most are connected to interviews. Some have been clients.

This isn’t a vibe. This is my work.
Cozy doesn’t create connection. Doing the homework and being in the conversation does. Reading the damn book does.
